From a documentary to a platform.
The Agonist (El Agonista) is born from the autobiographical documentary directed by Sebastián Manusovich and Pablo Pintor, which follows Sebastián’s life in relation to his disability.
That experience now expands into a cultural, educational, community and institutional platform that develops projects, experiences and programs for opening new ways of understanding difference.

What is the origin?
The Agonist is born from the autobiographical documentary directed by Sebastián Manusovich and Pablo Pintor, which follows Sebastián’s life in relation to his disability.
What began as an intimate and personal film started to generate conversations, questions and invitations in different spaces.
That is how The Agonist became a platform.

What does “The Agonist” mean?
The word agonist comes from the Greek agón, meaning struggle.
In the body, an agonist muscle produces movement against an opposing force.
We take that idea as a metaphor: difference is not something to be corrected or adapted, but a force capable of generating new ways of creating, relating and transforming reality.

What is our perspective?
It is not about including the different person in the same old game. It is about inventing a new game.
We believe in art and encounter as tools for opening questions, transforming perspectives and building new forms of coexistence.

Why a platform?
The documentary remains a cinematic work, but it is no longer the only place where The Agonist happens.
Today its questions expand into participatory experiences, educational programs, territorial actions and cultural interventions adapted to different audiences and contexts.
